
Glynlon "Glenn" Edward Tews
Glynlon "Glenn" Edward Tews was born July 20, 1930 in Norfolk,
Nebraska to Leo Herman and Goldie Mae (Bower) Tews. He died
January 22, 2009 after a brief illness with family and friends
at his side. Glenn met and married first wife Beverly in
1933. She preceded him in death after a long battle with
cancer in 1963. They had two daughters Maria Elaina Tews of
Pennsylvania and Dianna Lynn Tews of Lyndon, Washington. In
1970, he met and married his wife Betty Lou (O’Briant) Tews.
He is survived
by wife Betty, his two daughters, step sons Raymond Allen
Willey of Oak Harbor and M. Lindsey Willey of Greenville S.
Carolina, his sisters Charlene Perry of Lawton, Iowa, Violet
Ann Spencer of Neleigh, Nebraska, numerous grandchildren and
nieces and nephews. One sister Marlene Ougden preceded him in
death.
During his
long life Glenn was a member of many fraternal orders. He was
a Mason for over fifty years. Glenn was a member and Past
Worshipful Master (1998) of Whidby Island Lodge #15, Free and
Accepted Masons of Washington where he was presented the Hiram
Award in December 2007. He was also a member of
Burlington-United Lodge # 93, a Charter member Burlington
Lodge #254 as well as a life member of Bannack Historic Lodge
# 3-7-77. Glenn held a 32nd degree in both
Scottish and York Rites and was a member of Hesperus
Commandery #8, Knights Templar of Washington. Glenn was
also an active Shriner; a member of Nile Shrine, Seattle and
an avid member of the Nile Truckers where he was a past
Director.
He was also a
member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks # 2362
where he was serving as Esquire at the time of his
death.
Glenn served
for 5 years in the U.S. Navy as a photographer, and for 37
years in the Civil Service as a machinist and foreman at the
Naval Air Re-work Facility,
San Diego, California.
A memorial was
held at the Oak Harbor Elks club Thursday February 5, 2009 at
2:00 p.m.
